Equipment

  • A boiling pan
  • Serving glasses (2)

Ingredients
  

  • Cups Water
  • 12 Fresh peppermint leaves
  • 2 tbsp Sugar or any desired sweetener

Instructions
 

  • Put together all your ingredients and pout the clean water I to a boiling pan. Turn on the heat and bring the water to boil.
  • Remove the pan from heat and immediately add all the mint leaves.
  • Steep for four minutes
  • Add the sugar/homey, or your desired sweetener to taste.
  • Serve and enjoy.

Notes

The above recipe describes the general process of making mint tea, but it uses peppermint. You can also use the same processes to make jade citrus mint tea, ginger mint tea, and other mint teas using different mints.

What Is Mint Tea Good For?

Mint tea benefits are quite a few. Mint — the chief ingredient — is popular for benefiting your health in the following ways, and more.

Does Mint Tea Have Caffeine?

The short answer is no.

The long asnswer goes: Tea leaves, cocoa beans, and a few other ingredients are the main victims of caffeine in tea. They’re not used in mint tea — and in their stead — mint is used. So mint tea has no caffeine in it.

How To Dry Mint For Tea

There are several ways to dry fresh mint for tea. We’ll describe two main ones for now.

1. Air Drying

a). Tie your mint leaves at their branches (not big branches) into bundles.

b). Hang the bundles (upside down) inside a well-ventillated room that’s warm and dark. This hanging posture will make the oils and tastes to move from the petioles and branches to the leaves.

c). After two and a half weeks, the leaves should be dry. Separate them from the branches at their petioles.

2. Microwave Drying

a). Harvest the fresh mint leaves at their petioles and spread them out in a flat, microwave-safe plate. Ensure that each leaf is on its own — no layering.

b). Transfer the plate to the microwave oven, turning on the oven occasionally (in 10 seconds). After 3-4 microwaving occasions, the leaves should be curly and dry. This is when to use them.

Others also use the food dehydrator, the dehumidifier, and oven among other machines for drying.

Is Mint Tea Safe During Pregnancy?

If you need a straightforward answer, it’s a yes. However, there’s an explanation for why.

It is in the public domain that pregnant women should avoid as much caffeine as possible. Caffeine causrs several problems, including the much-known low birth weight. Ordinary tea made of tea leaves and coffee beans introduces too much caffeine into the body of pregnant women. Mint tea replaces it for an improved digestion, stronger immunity, bettering the health of the respiratory system, and more.

Can You Put Milk In Mint Tea?

Most people often drink milkless mint tea, but that doesn’t mean that we’d sin if we added milk. It’s safe to add milk to mint tea. Milk will not interfere with the deliciousness or aroma of the tea. In fact, it makes the tea even tastier and healthier.
